Dr. J.B. Meenk (1815-1899) was originally a GP who made powders for stomach pain headaches and toothaches. After his death E.M. Braskamp started using Meenks recipes on a large scale under the name Meenk. He also started producing liquorice. Nowadays Meenk is owned by Van Vliet The Candy Company.
